One last blast o’ cameos.

Drosselmeyer (Princess Tutu; the fact that he was named after the Nutcracker character is just a bonus tie-in), writer of stories, and Helios (Sailor Moon), guardian of dreams, are from essentially the same realm. Sandman readers will know that the Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, also has the title Prince of Stories. They will also know that he has no set form, though he’s easy to recognize because of those wonky dialog balloons of his. This particular form is that of the Dream King who shows up in Little Nemo in Slumberland. See, it all comes together!

Drosselmeyer: That’s how it ended? No misery? No sadness? What fun is that?

Morpheus: Drosselmeyer.

Drosselmeyer: Eep.

Lord Morpheus…eheh…how nice of you to drop by…

Morpheus: It is one thing for you to toy with characters of your own, such as Princess Tutu.

But imposing your story ideas, or those that you have stolen from ballet, on a living dreamer — this is beyond your authority. It is also dangerous.

Helios: Don’t worry, Morpheus…

I was watching over her.

Drosselmeyer: Figures.

Helios: What is that supposed to mean?

Drosselmeyer: Just that you always hang out in little girls’ dreams. Isn’t it kind of creepy?

Helios: What?! This from the man who writes about 13-year-olds in skimpy tutus! Besides, I’m a horse!

Drosselmeyer: That 13-year-old was a fictional character. It’s completely different! Besides, she was a duck!

Morpheus (thinking): I’m surrounded by idiots.
